Activated carbon synthesized from bamboo shoots for supercapacitor application

Carbon powder was synthesized from bamboo shoots by chemical activation. The porous carbon powders were activated potassium hydroxide (KOH) with a ratio of (C) and KOH (C : KOH) 1 1, 2, 3, 4 weight, respectively. Structure, morphological properties, the porosity investigated XRD, EDX, SEM, BET. electrochemical performances measured charge/discharge (CD) cyclic voltammetry (CV) techniques. Specific surface areas increased to1,017,1,162,1,257,and1,012m2 g−1 forC:KOHratiosof1:1,1:2,1:3,and1:4, capacitances 11.30, 26.60, 50.50, 40.50 F g–1 for C ratios 4, electrode C: 3 sintered at 600 °C displayed highest specific capacitance value 50.5 g–1. It should be good candidate material high-performance supercapacitor electrodes.
